Congratulations to our Pipe Band who, for the ninth year in a row, have won the Scottish Schools Competition. This year's event was held at Loretto on Sunday 15 June. Eleven bands competed for this prestigious award but Dollar held onto a trophy they have now had since 2000.
As well as winning the overall competition for best Pipe Band, Dollar enjoyed numerous other successes: Erin Stanhope (15) was first in the Intermediate Solo Drumming; Calum Martin (17) won the Ron Ackroyd Memorial Quaich for best Drum Major; Sandy Cameron (11) won the Douglas Henderson Memorial Quaich for Junior Solo Piping. Collectively, the scores from the Solo Piping produced an overall first for Dollar’s Pipe Corps, and they won the Loch Nan Eun Quaich for the ninth time.
Captain Craig Stewart who instructs the band was delighted with the success of his pupils: “The Pipe Band’s success is testament not only to the commitment of our youngsters but also to the dedication and support of the teaching staff, particularly David Methven, Lee Innes and George Mair. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition.”
