CCF Contingent Dining-In Night - 9th January 2009

On Friday, 9th January, senior members of the Combined Cadet Force, together with invited guests and cadets from the Perth ACF, gathered for a stylish celebration of the year. The assembled group dined sumputously and, as always, were entertained by outstanding musical performances from the Academy's Pipe and Drums Section.

After the meal, a review of the year was offered by Robbie Walker (Form VI), which was then followed by an address from distinguished visitor Lt Colonel Alan Sharkey. Lt Colonel Sharkey is the person in charge of First Aid Training throughout the Army Cadet Force Association and the Combined Cadet Forces. He was delighted to be able to speak at the dinner in order to fully recognise the remarkable achievements of Sergeant Major Tracey Scott, the lady responsible for training both the top CCF and ACF teams in Great Britain. For some years, a close association between Dollar Academy CCF and the Perth ACF Black Watch Detachment has benefited both groups in Drill and Infantry Training but, recently, it has been Sergeant Major Scott's expertise in First Aid that has led to such remarkable success. Lt Colonel Sharkey was also delighted to inform the diners that C Sgt Timmy Hasler achieved the highest score as an individual of any civilian or cadet national competitor.

Other guests included the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Sheena Cruikshank, Colonel JS Douglas from Army Careers Advisory and Colonel and Mrs G Ross, whose son is a former pupil and serving officer, along with cadets in the successful Perth ACF First Aid team.
