LONDON DOLLAR ACADEMY FP CLUB WINE & CANAPES EVENING

Fifth View - June 2008

Fifth View, at the top of Waterstones in Piccadilly, with its commanding view across the London skyline, provided a stylish and contemporary setting for the London F.P. Club’s summer gathering in June. While enjoying a seemingly never-ending selection of irresistible canapés and very drinkable wines, the 60+ F.P.s and their guests, ranging from fun-loving, rugby-scarred twenty-somethings to sprightly, delightful octogenarians, caught up with old friends and made new ones. They also had the opportunity to meet and talk to our special guests, the author Joanna Trollope and B.B.C. foreign correspondent Alan Johnston who captivated his listeners all evening.

A particular mention must go to Allister McBride who miraculously appeared in every photograph despite endeavouring to hide behind other guests or at least a glass of wine.

Finally, a special thank you to Murray Halley who, at 89, felt he wasn’t ‘quite up to’ joining the party but sent a generous donation and best wishes to the club.

The next summer drinks extravaganza in June 2009, should hopefully be at an equally prestigious venue. Details will be posted on the Dollar Academy website in due course. Look out for the invitations which will be sent out in the spring.
