Junior School Halloween Party

On Tuesday 30th October the Junior School Halloween Party took place, raising £420 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. All Junior School pupils arrived in fancy dress with outfits ranging from the “118 118” runners to Witches and even a grapevine!  The Charities Committee judges had a difficult task in selecting the winners of the fancy dress competition as every pupil made a fantastic effort to look either scary, amusing or both.  Throughout the evening there was a variety of team games that both the children and enthusiastic Charities Committee Team leaders took part in.  The 14 teams challenged themselves with a variety of balloon races, ducking for apples, eating doughnuts that dangled from string without the use of their hands and - perhaps the most popular challenge - eating chocolate wearing gloves with a knife and fork!  The most fiercely contested decorative pumpkin competition at the Academy in years produced worthy winners that included a black cat and a hamburger, selected after much deliberation by an appreciative panel of judges.  Overall, the night was a great success with the pupils, teachers and Charities Committee Members having an enjoyable night.  The Committee was also delighted to receive a booklet of thank you notes from the Junior School which confirmed our suspicions that the night was an overwhelming success!
