Everyone in the Junior School is settling in well. We have all been doing different things to introduce ourselves to each other. For example, our teachers have all asked us to do pieces of writing for the walls outside our classrooms. Each one of these have personal touches, with Miss Jed’s colourful peacock decorated with pictures of her class and Miss Horne’s “Going for Gold”, which is self portraits drawn by the class. Mrs Morrison’s class completed “For Sale” posters with a picture of each child and a description of themselves beside each one. Every one of these display pieces seem to brighten up the Junior School and add a touch of life, as well as being a means of introducing ourselves.
Everyone is welcomed warmly into the Junior School. We all feel that it is important to be friendly to everyone arriving new here. It is a lovely environment to work in and everyone seems to be settling in well.

Every class has a welcoming feature on the wall, showing and introducing all the pupils in a class.
Miss Jed has a peacock display and a piece of writing about themselves. It’s the same with all the classes but the teachers just show their children in different ways. When the new classes were read out for J2, I wasn’t very happy with the class I was given as it didn’t have many of my friends in it. When I got to know my classmates, however, I decided I wouldn’t want to be in any other class. Maths and English in J2 are obviously harder than in J1 but I feel have accomplished more than I could have hoped.
Of course, as you would imagine, there many clubs at Dollar Academy and a lot that the Junior School take part in, including the drama club which Miss Jed leads at lunchtimes and maybe you enjoy a bit of country dancing, which Miss Goudie teaches. There are also lots of clubs after school, including Rugby for the boys and hockey for the girls. The good thing about hockey, and rugby too, is that the teachers make up teams and we get the chance to play against other schools.
J2 has been a success so far and I am happy with the efforts I have made. I hope others feel the same.
