SCHOLARS' CHALLENGE

Fifteen of Dollar Academy’s pupils are taking part in a competition to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust.  After delivering an excellent presentation of their prospective business plan in Edinburgh to a group of entrepreneurial investors 'The Gathering' (the team name) were successful in securing the backing of Gordon Galloway, a businessman involved with Mobiqa, a mobile phone events ticketing company.  Gordon agreed to finance the team with a donation of £3000.  'The Gathering' is passionate in its desire to turn this initial investment into at least £20,000 for the Prince’s Trust.  This will enable the Trust to help turn around the lives of many young people who face multiple obstacles in their everyday life.  It supports them with education, training and work.

Gordon met the team to hand over the cheque.  He stated that he has spent much of his time in various boardrooms lately being told why the current climate is significantly lowering expectations on financial returns. He added that to spend time with 'The Gathering', to see their enthusiasm, commitment and drive, was a breath of fresh air!
