PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR MALAYSIAN
EXPEDITION
JULY 2009
The trip is to two resorts on Tioman Island, followed by a two-day visit to Singapore.
Part
1. Paya Beach: Here pupils explore the land and marine
environments. They trek through rainforest and mangrove swamp.
They snorkel on tropical reefs and mangrove swamps, visit
a marine park, go on a midnight jungle trek. All this under the expert tuition
of a local ecologist.

Part 2. Melina Beach: Here pupils learn to scuba dive
and sit their scuba diving open water test. They can expect to take
part in at least six dives with fully qualified diving instructors.
All equipment and instruction is provided as part of the package.
Part 3. Singapore: We stay in Singapore on the way out and the
way back. On return we spend two nights.
On the first day we visit Sentosa holiday island for the whole
day. Here pupils can roam the island and sample the various
attractions. The final day is reserved for shopping in the
famous Orchard Road. We stay in the YMCA Hotel which is at
one end of Orchard Road, and has its own rooftop swimming pool.

Park on Tioman.
Pupils must be fit and healthy, and be fairly strong swimmers,
without a fear of water.
This is not a holiday! There is a great deal of physical activity
which requires stamina and skill.
As part of the package, pupils will attend the Dollar swimming
pool on a number of evenings in the second term, where they
will receive instruction from the Forth Valley Sub-Aqua Club.
There is a £10 fee for this additional training, which
ensures they are familiar with the equipment, and are confident
in the underwater environment. The fee is included in the
overall costs.
